Today in local culture
If you haven't seen it yet, the 2009 Annual exhibition at CoCA is still on through January 9 at both their Ballard and Belltown galleries. Even today, Monday, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
From their Web site:
CoCA presents the 2009 Annual, a juried exhibition exhibiting work from emerging as well as established artists in a wide variety of visual media. Artists in any region and any country were welcome to submit, and entries were received from 7 countries and 35 states. The exhibit showcases the ways in which contemporary artists, regardless of their location, share similar aesthetic concerns and conceptual approaches in a world of increasingly dramatic flux.
I have to give special mention to photographer Leigh Merrill here, who hails from Denton, TX, the home of my alma mater.
Also, if you haven't already, buy your tickets for The Song Show, presented by City Arts at the Triple Door January 6, 7:00 p.m., featuring performances and interviews from Damien Jurado, Jesse Sykes, Grand Hallway and Macklemore. Grand Hallway is featured on the cover of this month's City Arts Seattle magazine, as part of our 2010 Resolutions issue.
