Catch This: Bumbershoot Kickoff

While you'll probably be plenty sated in your desires for music and handmade hemp accessories this weekend at Bumbershoot, there are two great kickoff parties happening tonight to start the weekend off right.

Tonight at 7:00pm, Spin magazine hosts a party at The Crocodile with special guest DJ Sune Rose of The Ravonettes, who play tomorrow at Bumbershoot. Though I'm not sure how Sune Rose deejays, the event is free with an RSVP and The Ravonettes' indie rock is definitely worth checking out on Saturday.

Then, at 9:00pm in Fremont, Ear Candy hosts their kickoff show at the High Dive hosted by Macklemore, featuring Thee Emergency, Sol, Curtains for You and Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground. Macklemore (profiled in City Arts' "Music. Drugs. God. Music" and a performer at January's The Song Show) is by far one of my favorite local emcees, and the mix of indie rock and hip-hop are sure to make this an awesome evening.

Here's Kay Kay and his Weathered Undeground performing their song "Momma."

And be sure to catch Macklemore this October at Heineken City Arts Fest with Blue Scholars, Brother Ali, Fresh Espresso and Mash Hall at the Paramount.
