Tacoma's Art at Work Tours! Q&A with Mark Hoppmann

On November 6th and 7th from 10am-4pm, studios and artist are opening their spaces up to the public for Tacoma's Art at Work, featuring forty-four locations throughout Tacoma.

City Arts has sat down with a few of the local artists involved to give you just a taste of what's in store.

Primary artistic medium/media: Watercolor & India Ink.

What art items you sell you’d think would fit in a City Arts December gift guide (designed to promote local artists)?  I have a small (5.5 x 7) book priced at $30, titled "Twelve Days for The Twelve Days of Christmas", with original illustrations created by myself.  The covers are created from recycled paper I make in my studio.  For more information, you can go to MarkHoppmannArt.com and click on books.

What you’re working on now: A new series of illustrations loosely based on The Book of Kells.

Most dangerous tool in your studio: My exacto knife.

Weirdest material(s) you’re currently working with: Paper Pulp.

Mental health “drug” of choice:  Being in the "zone."

Favorite part about your studio space: My drawing table.

Least favorite part about your studio space: The matting and framing area.

Your favorite completed work: Vincent Van Crow.
