What I'm Listening To: Forró in the Dark

This is the best music video I have ever seen.

Okay, maybe not the best. But it is definitely one of the most entertaining.

I think it's safe to say that the members of Forró in the Dark were making things up as they went along here, dancing to their own light and catchy beats in zabumba drummer and vocalist Mauro Refosco's kitchen (he's wearing the green shirt and playing with silverware). When they attempt to coordinate their movements, more often than not it fails in the most hilarious way.

It's clear these men don't take themselves too seriously, which is their very appeal.

Forró literally means "party" in Brazil, and these four New York-based Brazilians are clearly having one, so much so that Jorge Continentino can't seem to hold on to his pifano flute.

This is "Nonsensical" from the album Light a Candle.

See Forró in the Dark with Gogol Bordello on October 20 (tomorrow!) at Heineken City Arts Fest.
