Sundance-bound Send-off Tonight

Four Seattle films are Sundance-bound, cast off tonight at Pre-Funk (5 - 7pm), a happy hour at Queen Anne's Solo Bar held by Washington Filmworks and the Seattle Office of Film + Music.

After a banner year for Washington film in 2009—one that saw local film Humpday the subject of a distribution bidding war—the showing of local films have doubled from 2010.

Two of this year's inclusions will premiere in horror-heavy Park City at Midnight section, The Catechism Cataclysm and The Oregonian perpetuating the eerie Northwest stereotype.

Along with The Off Hours, they boast largely local casts and crews, while high-profile picture The Details, whose cast includes Tobey Maguire, Laura Linney and Elizabeth Banks, is still good for a game of “spot the Seattle landmarks.” Further stoking civic pride: 2011's Sundance had the highest number of submissions in festival history.
