Around Town: Finally Fashion

Bellevue Arts Museum opened its doors for the spring edition of its quarterly Finally Friday celebration on April 16. There was a lot to take in, including three new exhibitions – Beth Levine’s shoe art, Lisa Gralnick’s exploration of gold and the glass collection of John and Joyce Price. The most talked-about art, though, was not on pedestals, but on the runway, where Stigmare and Emerald City Fashion Week brought together five local designers with delightfully varied spring looks. Here’s looking forward to the next Finally Friday on August 27. Photography by Denise Sakaki.

Models put on the creations of Built for Man, Last Wear, Poirier and Bri Seeley.

Built for Man presented the most challenging pieces of the evening, having outfitted its models with various masks that recalled both burkas and bank robbers.

A dress from the Last Wear line seems to dig into the stylistic vocabulary of steampunk, tipping its tiny hat to the Victorian era.

One of a series of dresses by Neodandi mirrors a work of art with its crumpled, tactile look.

This look from Last Wear confirmed our suspicions of a steampunk theme in the designer’s line. We are told that the wrench is not only a fashion accessory; it is a tool.
