Around Town: Spring Ahead

Issaquah’s Village Theatre stocked the bar and opened its doors to area performance groups and young theatre fans alike for its third annual Spring Fling event. Geared toward twenty- and thirty-somethings, the event highlighted productions that are waiting in the wings at 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT, Intiman, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Opera, Seattle Rep, Seattle Symphony, Teatro ZinZanni and Village Theatre itself.

Renata Friedman performs a piece from The K of D.

Actors Aaron Finley and Eric Ankrim, most recently the star of Village Theatre’s Gypsy King, prepare to perform “Man” from the Village’s upcoming production of The Full Monty.

Jessica Skerritt performs “I Cain’t Say No” from Oklahoma!, which the 5th Avenue Theatre will put on next summer.

Actor David Quinn emceed the event, guiding flingers through a season of male strippers, American dreams and the thoughts of a small-town teenager.

Quinn asks director Braden Abraham about his staging of The K of D: An Urban Legend at Seattle Rep this winter. •
