Three Song Requests

SONG REQUESTS
I WILL MAKE HERE SO I DON’T HAVE TO YELL THEM AT THE SHOW

Cat Power! Please play “Song to Bobby”! I love you and I love Dylan, and this is you doing Dylan, just like Dylan did Woody Guthrie when he sang “Song to Woody.” Seriously, it’s so meta it might make my head explode. But I’ll probably just get all teary.

Brother Ali! Play “Forest Whitaker”! I know you recorded that song, like, eight years ago, but everyone wants you to play it just so we can sing along: “Dependin’ on the day, and dependin’ on what I ate, I’m anywhere from twenty to thirty-five pounds overweight.”

Belle & Sebastian! Play “Like Dylan in the Movies”! I know, I know. More Dylan references. But this was the first song you ever wrote and I know you played it in Zurich this summer. Plus, it’s fantastic, and with those strings, in that symphony hall? You gotta play it.
