In the age of affordable laptop editing suites, Shaun Scott can make what he wants when he wants. And he does.

The 27-year-old Queens, New York, native has already generated volumes of material, most notably last year’s ambitious three-hour-plus psycho-documentary The Seat of Empire, which uses found footage and Scott’s own far-reaching narration to chronicle the entire history of Seattle. Last year he completed his first narrative feature,100% OFF: A Recession-Era Romance, based on a screenplay he started a year earlier.

“For someone with less drive, writing a script that a creative team can get behind would take at least that long,” Scott says. “But I’m not one of those filmmakers who takes five years to make one project. I’m too impatient and have too much to say.”

Scott’s impatience—and the work that results from it—drives some local film enthusiasts mad. But his prolific approach and undying passion for his subject matter are what make him so promising.
100% OFF will be released locally in the summer, at which time Scott will start filming his next feature, a social satire titled Pacific Aggression.
