Fresh Air

Tanks churning out air by the pound per square inch, dripping color samples drying on the walls. Welcome to Tretch’s Airbrush Art, a lively studio at the B & I on South Tacoma Way, where Jorge Mota (above) apprentices. Though he recently completed high school here, Mota was born in Tzintzuntzan, a small town in central Mexico. He grew up playing around ancient ruins and now finds himself at a crossroad of cultures. He accepts commissions and airbrushes everything onto anything: shirts, shoes, canvases – even cars. His work has been shown at the Lark Gallery. Or, catch him painting live at local events.
