It was last spring that I first heard of Peter Serko over drinks at 1022 South. Virginia Bunker, who was then City Arts’ associate editor, told me about the riveting cityscapes that this guy was shooting. Having seen too many “artistic” photos of skyscrapers taken at interesting angles, I was skeptical. Still, she insisted we find a way to get him into the magazine. I went home and took a look at his online gallery. I was sold, but couldn’t quite figure out how these images fit in the magazine. Eight months later, Serko finally had a project that would fit, displaying his art in a way that showed its beauty as well as its inspirational powers. So, thank you, Virginia. Good find.
