Where Creative Disciplines Collide

Genre Bender returns with 10 of Seattle's most inventive artists, unleashing five totally new, category-defying performances.

Each year, City Arts pairs artists who work in different media, inviting them to leap out of their comfort zones for a special collaboration. We commission each duo to create a unique experience—and the details of each performance remain secret until the curtain goes up on opening night.

"I was in complete awe throughout the entire show as performers...pushed the boundaries of art and made new and spectacular creations that left me wanting more. This was beyond just talent, it was full on collaborations between people of immense talent making things that were new and exciting, and absolutely wonderful." —Jeremy Buben, Art Nerd, 2014

"Indisputably, the pairings in this year’s Genre Bender produced interesting work that tackled heavy topics. The works clearly embraced the strengths and influences of each artist." —Ciara McCormack, Seattle Dances, 2014
