What Was Your Wow! Moment in Culture Last Year?
- Bond Huberman — January 1, 2007

Bryan Willis, Playwright in Residence, Tacoma Actors Guild
The “Theatre, Community and Collaboration” conference at the University of Puget Sound. There were readings, workshops and a superb roundtable discussion with working artists and UPS students — all extremely encouraging.
Roxanne Murphy, Community Relations Specialist, City of Tacoma
Hotrod-A-Rama at the Swiss Tavern in August: dozens of rockabilly bands shakin’ the shack, 1950s pinup girls, greaser guys, 100 cases of Pabst Blue Ribbon and more than 500 hotrods that make you go “vroom.” I was there until 2 a.m.!
David Nicandri, Director, Washington State History Museum
“In the Spirit,” the Northwest Native Arts Market and Festival at the History Museum in July (below). It was a highly visible place for Native American artists to exhibit and sell their art and a fun family event.
Lynn De Nino, Artist
The Slide Slam the city organized as part of the Art at Work month celebration brought so many types of artists and art together in one space and was not elitist, by design.
Jennifer Olson-Rudenko, Gallery Coordinator and Instructor, Tacoma Community College — The Day of the Dead celebration at the Tacoma Art Museum (above) was fantastic. I’m hoping there will be more arts and cultural celebrations to attend in 2007.
